ENR MOUNTAIN STATES 2011 BEST PROJECTS WINNER

Posted by Mark Show at 9/28/2011 2:46 PM CDT on ENR Mountain States

ENR Mountain States is pleased to announce the winners of our 2011 Best Projects competition. Judges selected more than 60 winners (30 from the Intermountain region and 31 from the Colorado area) from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska and North and South Dakota.

Judges selected a Best Project winner in each category, along with a Merit winner in some categories. The winning projects, along with the names of the firms that submitted them, will be profiled in the October issue of ENR Mountain States.

Judging was done by two groups of industry experts representing both the contracting and design sides of the industry. One group of judges represented the Intermountain half of the region (Utah, Idaho and Montana) and one looked at projects from Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas. Judges ranked all projects according to a common scale and voted for a Best Overall Project in both areas, which are also noted below.

Here are this year’s winning projects, listed in two separate groups. “Best Project” winners (first place) in each category are listed first, with the Merit winner or winners (in the case of a tie), listed next—in cases where judges thought Merit Awards were appropriate.

The Intermountain winners list is first. Scroll down further to see the list of winners from Colorado, Wyoming and the Plains states.

WADSWORTH BROTHERS HONORED BY AGC OF UTAH

AGC of Utah

The Associated General Contractors of Utah has honored Wadsworth Brothers Construction of Draper, Utah with two awards: 2009 Bridge Construction Project of the Year and 2009 Partnered Project Award.

Wadsworth Brothers received the 2009 Bridge Construction Project of the Year for their work on the I-84 Weber Canyon Road Asphalt Pavement Rehabilitation Project. Never before in Utah or possibly the United States has such a large pre-cast full deck panel replacement project been undertaken in such a narrow, no access canyon, infamous for its short summer season. The project also required the re-design of the original retaining barrier and a more aesthetically pleasing wall pattern to compliment the beautiful scenery of Weber Canyon.

The 2009 Best Partnered Project Award was presented to Wadsworth Brothers and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) for their work on the Southern Parkway Project.

The Wadsworth Brothers team was recognized for successfully partnering with UDOT on the projects by solving small problems on a daily basis and overcoming larger problems without major escalation and undue stress between the contractor and UDOT. Team building activities included: contractor-sponsored lunches with subcontractors, suppliers and inspectors and pre-construction/partnering meetings.

The Associated General Contractors of Utah is an independent chapter of the AGC of America. It is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity, and responsibility. The association provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protection of the public interest.

Wadsworth Brothers was founded in 1991 and has grown into one of the top highway and bridge contractors in the Intermountain West. The company has evolved into a multifaceted construction company with three different divisions including: Heavy Highway/ Bridge and Structures Division; Building Division (Vertical Parking Structures); and a Pre-Cast Division. Wadsworth Brothers employs over 200 employees and has a reputation for tackling the toughest jobs in the heavy-highway market.

WADSWORTH BROTHERS RECEIVES TOP UDOT AWARDS FOR 2009

Wadsworth Brothers Construction has received two prestigious construction awards from the Utah Department of Transportation: the 2009 Rural Construction Project of the Year and the 2009 Urban Construction Project of the Year. Wadsworth was recognized for excellence in design, engineering and innovative construction efforts.

Wadsworth Brothers received the 2009 Rural Project of the Year for the Interstate 80 Four Bridge Replacement in Parley’s Canyon. Read Full Story.

WADSWORTH BROTHERS RECOGNIZED AS TOP 100 FASTEST GROWING COMPANIES

FASTEST100

The Mountain West Capital Network recognized Wadsworth Brothers Construction as one of Utah’s 100 Fasting Growing Companies for 2009 at the 15th Annual Awards Program on October 23, 2009.

The Utah 100 is determined by the percentage of revenue increase from 2004 through 2008. The 100 fastest growing companies in Utah are selected from thousands of eligible applicants throughout the state and represent a cross-section from all industries including those in information technology, biomedical, bio-technical, health care, retail, construction, financial services and others.

“I am very proud of each one of these Utah 100 companies,” said Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert. “Their hard work, sacrifice, and success represent all Utah businesses—businesses that provide the backbone of strength we need to be economically competitive with the rest of the world.”

Wadsworth Wins Best Of State 4 Years In A Row; Including A Special Award for Best Business Services 2008

Wadsworth Brothers specializes in building the toughest jobs within the tightest schedules and have been able to successfully complete these projects — ON TIME AND UNDER BUDGET — without sacrificing quality. This is evidenced by the numerous awards we have recieved for the quality of our projects this and past years, including:
