The Utah Department of Transportation has selected Wadsworth Brothers Construction to build the third segment of the Southern Parkway in St. George, Utah. Construction is slated to begin in August 2010.

The Southern Parkway is a 26-mile expressway providing a belt route from Interstate 15 in St. George to SR-9 in Hurricane. The new roadway will provide access to St. George’s Industrial park, the new Regional Airport presently under development and numerous planned developments along the corridor. The Southern Parkway is a key component in the long-range plans of the Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Wadsworth Brothers will grade seven miles of the Southern Parkway that includes two box culverts and a structure at Washington Dam Road. The current project budget is estimated between 20 – 30 million dollars. The project delivery method for this project is Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) and is one of the first CMGC projects in the State.

A welcome addition to the transportation needs of the quickly growing communities of Washington County, this project featured extensive partnering between UDOT and the State Institutional and Trust Lands Administration, which administers much of the land on which the Parkway was constructed.
In 2009, Wadsworth Brothers was awarded the Urban Project of the Year award for their work on the First Phase of the Southern Parkway Project. The $58.8 million dollar project was completed by Wadsworth two months ahead of schedule. The company has been directly involved in over 71 million dollars of work in the St. George area, with over 39 million dollars of contracts being awarded and performed by local contractors and suppliers from the community.

Wadsworth Brothers Construction was founded in 1991 and has grown into one of the top highway and bridge contractors in the State of Utah that includes Heavy Highway/ Bridge and Structures Division; Building Division (Vertical Parking Structures); and a Pre-Cast Division. The owner and president is Guy Wadsworth, a 30-year veteran of the construction industry. In 2009, Wadsworth was recognized by The MountainWest Capital Network as one of Utah’s 100 Fasting Growing Companies.
